Khel Sahayog: Hockey Development Program Proposal
1. Introduction
Hockey has been an integral part of India’s sporting history, yet it struggles to receive adequate support at the grassroots level. Khel Sahayog aims to bridge this gap by promoting hockey as a tool for youth development, social inclusion, and community empowerment. This program will focus on identifying talent, providing training, improving access to equipment, and creating pathways for professional opportunities.
2. Objectives
Grassroots Development: Establish hockey training centers in underserved communities.
Infrastructure Support: Provide hockey kits, training equipment, and playing surfaces.
Coaching & Mentorship: Engage certified coaches to train young athletes.
Tournaments & Exposure: Organize local and regional competitions to give players match experience.
Education & Awareness: Promote the role of sports in mental health, discipline, and drug prevention.
Corporate & Institutional Partnerships: Secure funding and sponsorships for sustainability.
3. Program Components
A. Talent Identification & Training
Conduct hockey workshops and talent scouting camps in schools and rural areas.
Set up training centers with structured coaching programs.
Develop a coaching curriculum focusing on technical skills, fitness, and game strategy.
B. Infrastructure & Equipment Support
Provide necessary hockey gear (sticks, balls, protective gear, and training kits).
Collaborate with local authorities to develop/renovate hockey fields.
Establish a mobile training unit for remote areas.
C. Competitive Exposure & Career Pathways
Organize inter-school, district, and state-level hockey tournaments.
Facilitate mentorship programs with former and current professional hockey players.
Connect talented players with academies and professional leagues.
D. Awareness & Community Engagement
Conduct awareness campaigns on the importance of hockey and sports culture.
Integrate mental health and drug prevention education into training programs.
Promote gender equality in hockey by encouraging girls’ participation.
E. Funding & Sustainability
Partner with corporates, government bodies, and sports federations for sponsorships and CSR funding.
Apply for grants from sports development schemes (e.g., Khelo India, private foundations).
Establish a self-sustaining model through local tournaments, merchandise, and fundraising events.

Mizoram & Manipur – Passion for sports but limited infrastructure.
Madhya Pradesh – Identified as a growth region for hockey development.
6. Expected Impact
Direct engagement with 500+ young athletes in the first year.
Development of at least 5 training centers across key regions.
Creation of scholarship opportunities for talented players.
Increased awareness about mental health and drug prevention through sports.
